Sanitaire Vacuum Cleaner – DuraLux SC9180, SC9150 Reviews

Article by Robin OBrien

If you’re looking to buy a commercial grade vacuum then look no further than a Sanitaire DuraLux vacuum cleaner. Sanitaire started out -and primarily still does – manufacturing vacuums for commercial use, which means that durability, serviceability and cleaning performance of its products are of paramount importance.

Commercial appliances differ significantly to those made for domestic use. The wear-and-tear of commercial equipment is so much greater than that used in the home; therefore durability is the first thing commercial equipment buyers look for. Following closely behind this requirement is that it must be easy to maintain and service; parts must be designed so that swapping them out for new ones is simple and quick. Finally, the equipment must be up to the job; paying customers of cleaning companies expect a first rate service.

Both the DuraLux SC9510 and SC9180 offer all the above.

Deciding on which of them to buy depends on your requirements. The SC9510 is the cheaper model. It has all the same components and cleaning power of the SC9180 except that it lacks the on-board tools; the telescopic wand and dusting brush. The lack of the tools does make it 3lbs lighter.

What both of these DuraLux vacuum cleaners share are a powerful, yet surprisingly quiet 11.5amp motor; a 9′ reinforced stretch hose; a large capacity dust bag of 4 quarts; and sealed washable HEPA filtration. You also get 4 manual height adjustments for various floor types

While these are great features other bands have them as well, the Hoover WindTunnel vacuum has all of these and cleans just as well. What really sets the DuraLux apart are innovative features that are designed to ensure its life expectancy and serviceability. For instance, it comes with an extra large, clog-free intake that can easily cope with large items like paper clips, matchsticks and other clog-prone objects. The automotive-style V belt pulley has not only been designed to handle most cleaning challenges but ensures that that there’s no downtime.

Another really thoughtfully designed feature is the easy-change drop-in filter bag – so many other brands use HEPA filters but changing them can be a real chore. And, should the power cord ever get damaged, it’s been designed so that changing it can be done in seconds.

If you’re really serious about buying the best vacuum cleaner on the market then you should seriously consider buying a Sanitaire DuraLux. However, before you do you should be aware that these vacuums aren’t cheap. You’ll be paying around 0 for the SC9510 and anything up to 0 for the SC9180.

Also, they’re heavy (20lbs for the lighter DuraLux) and they aren’t self-propelled (the Hoover WindTunnel is), so carrying them up and down stairs could be problematic for some.
