UnDead96 need help to clarify doubt about: : How do I clean a jansport backpack?
I have a dark purple backpack thats fairly dirty and would like it clean after coming back from spring break. Would it be okay to throw it in the washer? And would I throw it in with my other clothes or just by itself? Is it safe to put it in the dryer or should I let it air dry?

I would not machine wash or dry it.
First open and empty all the compartments, then vacuum out all the crud that you can, or take it outside and shake it out, maybe even brush it with a dry toothbrush or fingernail brush if there is any actual dried mud or anything like that on it.
Then if you want to do it all outside, fill a clean wastebasket or plastic storage tub with cold water and a couple tablespoons of shampoo or dishwashing liquid. You could also do it inside in a bathtub or maybe even the kitchen sink if your bag is not too big. Anyway, swish the bag in the soapy water, get it totally wet, and let it soak for about a half hour. Then take a nail brush or toothbrush and a little extra soap to spot treat any stains if you need to. Then dump/drain the water, and replace with plain water and rinse the bag completely. You can add some scent to your rinse water if you want…a little of your fav cologne, some fabric softener, some Febreze…or if you have any tough odors, try some white vinegar in the rinse water.
Then hang it upside down outside in the sunshine. It helps if you can fit it over something that will hold it open…a fence post, a mop handle, etc. If you are in a hurry to dry it faster, lay it between two clean dry towels and twist them to take on the bag’s water. AND/OR put the bag in a breeze or in front of a fan.

I have a Jansport book bag. I have washed it several times. I put it in washing machine on gentle cycle, cold water & liquid laundry soap. I let it air dry and it always turns out fresh and clean and still in great shape
My kids all had Jansport backpacks and I would wash them whenever they got dirty with no problems. (You can’t wash the ones with a leatherette base, though)
I use cold, delicate cycle to wash and regular laundry soap, and then hung them out on the clothes line to drip dry.
