Are bagged vacuums better when looking at low cost machines?

I am trying to find an inexpensive vacuum for my apartment. One day I will buy a fancy expensive one but I need one now and that is not what I can afford. I have been looking at what vacuums people recommend and it sounds like the bagged vacuums work better. However, most of the ones in the stores are bagless so I had assumed that was better. Is that only true with high end machines? Or is everyone carrying bagless just because they look cooler on the shelves?

  1. Bagless vacuums are getting hard to find. Go to a vacuum repair shop and see if they have any reconditioned ones for sale.

  2. After making the mistake of buying 2 bagless vacs in the last 10 years, I have decided that my next vacuum will definitely be bagged. The first bagless lasted less than 4 years and I can’t find filters anywhere except on-line for the 2nd vac and it would almost be cheaper to just buy a new vacuum than replace the filters…..I will be buying a new bagged vacuum soon.
