It is needed to store and protect a full size futon mattress. I need both the protection and size reduction a space bag or pak bag offers. I saw such a product made in China for ordering in bulk by other companies but could find no other connection.

To my knowledge, the largest space bag you can purchase in the US is only big enough for a comforter.
same answer as AMBER EYES.sorry.
call a mattress store, i think you can buy covers from them. i just used two inexpensive mattress covers, one on each side of the matress to store my futon. I bought them at a discount store for less than 15 bucks.
There is no air in a North American made futon mattress to suck out. It will not get any smaller, no matter what. There are other considerations, though.
A mattress store could sell you one of the large plastic "bags" that cover their products. Buy a strap with a cinching buckle to encircle the rolled futon once you have protected it. Roll it lengthwise. The strap is a great way to carry the futon. These straps are available in a good hardware store.
I used an unheated storage unit in a locale with four seasons for our furniture including a futon. I ended up tossing the darn thing because it was mouldy. considering the low cost of futons and the high cost of storage, you might be ahead to have a yard or house contents sale.
