I have a plain old dirt devil upright. I sucked it up with the hose attachment. I looked in the bag, turned the vacuum upside down, shook the hose, and couldn’t find it. Any other ideas?

It’s probably stuck in the hose. Straighten the hose and look down it then poke the item out from the hose.
It’s gotta be in there somewhere.
it may be stuck in the base of the machine – carefully take the beater bar out (the part with the brushes on it) and look around in the base of the unit.
If its a small little thing you sucked away, then try look in the hose and pipe. It also could be in the brushes. If the thing has a chain on it, then it could get swirled around the brush, and then didnt even get all the way through the pipe.
If its not in the brush, pipe, hose, then you might try the vac bag again. Spread out all the dust and lints, it might be curled in with all the yucky lint.
