I recently purchased a down comforter, but it’s way too difficult to put it back into the original bag for storage. A sales rep at BedBath and Beyond told me to store it in one of those space saver vacuum bags (thus preventing moisture/dust mites from entering). However, in researching down filling, I read that down should not be strenuously compressed, nor compressed for long periods of time. So was the sales rep jerking my chain, or can I store my down comforter by placing it in one of those Space bags and sucking the air out of it with a vacuum? Thanks!
They work great for that time of item. Just purchase a large size and it will fit nicely and keep it clean and protected.
I packed a queen sized down comforter in a queen sized plastic bag that a set of sheets comes in. It can be done.
I wouldn’t. The feathers need to breathe, and the covering will probably yellow.
I store my down comforters in space bags and I have had no problems with them turning yellow or loosing there fluff. They come out looking the way I put it in there. Nice and clean,
