I am getting ready to buy a vacuum and not sure which way to go. I have mostly tile and wood floors but have a dog. Would like to cut down on alergens best I can.

I own both a bagless Eureka and a bag-style Eureka.
I think that the bag-style Eureka cleans better, as when you empty out the bag you’re not releasing quite as many dust mites into the air as with the bagless models.
I did a lot of research before buying my new Eureka Boss SmartVac in June, and this one picks up pet hair very well. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Dyson machines. Many owners love them, but I think they’re far too overpriced.
Go bagless, its easier, cleaner and more fun…To me neway
I have a Dyson Slim. Good vac. but I have to continually change the cup. I am now looking a vacuum with a bag. Changing the cup in not clean. You will have to dump it out in a bag anyway. So, what is the difference? Both must be changed, the bag is contained, the bag less in not and dust and small dirt particles fly .. I guess the big difference is the cost of the bags. Buying and changing bags is better than changing that cup after I clean each room.. I have two dogs so I have hair and dog dirt. Hopes this helps. I plan to use my bag less as a quick clean up only.
I have cats and cat hair. I bought a bagless and I’m happy with it. I empty the thing outside– the dust is very fine and I didn’t want it back in the house. I also like the idea of washing the filter– in fact, it can go in the dishwasher. I do bang the filter outside over the trash bin to remove as much dust as possible before washing it.
I also use dustmop and wet mop on my wood, vinyl or ceramic tile floors. The vac is used on throw rugs and area carpets plus I have two rooms with wall to wall.
I’m happy.
good luck
