This is my 1987 Hoover Compact model S3462. This style of Compact came out in 1985 to replace the earlier version from 1981. It used the same motors as the Sensotronic and was available as the 800watt Compact, 900watt Compact Super and 1000watt Compact Electronic and Total System. The Compact rivalled the Goblin Solo/Royale models and Electrolux’s 350/2000 series as a small but powerful cylinder cleaner. The Compact electronic came with On-board tool storage, variable power, cord rewind and a bag full indicator.
My step-mum had the 900W compact super. It’s a green colour if I believe correctly? If not, it must be the compact model. A friend of my mums used to have the sensotronic model too. Your vids are truly excellent! If you want my Lux btw, I’ll sell it your for a £5. Postage will be about £12 Royal Mail. Let me know.
do you have a u1104 style junior you could make a vid of
watch this space! a vid’s on its way
i love your feet
um, i don’t see his feet.
The thing I remember about the hoover compact was the circular bolt together tubes! iT IS a shame you don’t show us yourself stripping the hose of that vacuum cleaner!
you have a great collection 🙂
thankyou
yes most hoover cylinders from the early 80s to the 90s had the tubes with the lock ring, difficult to take them all apart with the camera in your hand but i’ll give it a go next time I make a video
Is it true that most “electronic” vacuums had power nozzles?
no not necessarily, the ‘electronic’ bit refers to the variable power control
I think if I remember those hoovers were very popular in the 80s! Probably as common as dysons are now!
