Happy need help to clarify doubt about: : Have you used the “dry” carpet cleaning powders such as Oreck or Hoover?
If so, could you tell me if you had success and what brand you used? I am going today to purchase the powder but I do not know what brand to buy. Thank you.

I moved into an apartment once, when i was a little younger, and the carpet was god-awful. It stunk, it had stains all over it, and it was just terrible. I tried pretty much all of the major dry carpet powders, and i had a good vacuum, but all they seemed to do was mask the odor for a short time, and make me sneeze all the time. I would recommend buying or renting a steaming vacuum if you really need to get your carpet cleaner than a normal vacuum can accomplish alone.

I actually tried something called Capture. I was surprised that it worked pretty well (especially in dirty, heavy traffic areas). But I can’t imagine using it to clean the carpet in an entire room, or a whole house. You sprinkle on the white powder stuff, brush it in, then vacuum it up. If you have small vacuum bags, you could end up using more than one bag. It was recommended to me at a carpet store — and they didn’t even sell it, so it wasn’t a sales trick. I got it at either Home Depot or Lowe’s, I can’t remember which one.
If you’re doing a whole house, I’d rent a steam cleaner. But for traffic areas, it works okay.
The dry carpet cleaning methods arent the best option to use. Just imagine pouring a box of powder on the carpet and vacuuming it out, you will not get all of it back out. So it leaves a residue which can attract more dirt and cause the carpet to soil more quickly. Also if your skin is sensitive it can be an irritant as well. The best option is to have the carpet cleaned professionally with steam extraction. It also improves the life of the carpeting
