Any tips on using the "Space Bag" vacuum storage bags for…

I bought some of those plastic "Space Bag" storage bags that you vacuum the air out of after you fill them up, for storing some clothes.

Are there any tips you have for using them? Like is there any point to ironing clothes before you put them in? Does using the vacuum negatively impact the clothes in any way?

Any tips will be appreciated!

  1. I tore my first one. I over filled it thinking it could handle it.
So next i layed out every bag by size that came in the box.
I folded my pants very tight and flat as i could.
with my sweaters I did the same making it very even on the corners. i did not with the first bag and it riped like i said.
But with that extra effort it worked great. After 6 months i took the pants out and no wrinkles. there were some fold lines but just hanging them took that out.
Also I filled the back corners with the edge of my jeans. It seemed to be a better fit that way. So when i vacuumed it there was no waste.
I also put a fabric sheet in each bag.

  2. The vacuum wont hurt the clothes at all- one trick to using space bags is to open them up about every three months to let the clothes expand, then re-vacuum the air out of them- but they are gonna wrinkle in the bag so I wouldn’t bother to iron them first! Good Luck!

  3. I’ve been using this and it hasn’t damaged my clothes. I usually iron the items after storing them there as I don’t see the point in ironing them,it’s a waste of time, might as well iron it right before I want to wear the items. I also usually just store items that don’t need ironing.

  4. Be very careful to not overstuff the bags- they will tear. Do not go past that blue line. I went over the blue line just a little, and my bag tore.

  5. I use the Space Bags also. Just make sure your clothes are freshly clean and well dried before storing them or they might mold if they are not completely dried. I haven’t had any problems with any of the seals not holding. My clothes have come out smelling good and not wrinkled at all.
