Will never buy anything but a Hoover ever again!, May 25, 2011

I bought this vacuum last month after doing some home work. I was a little worried because of some negatve reviews on how light it is. I love this vacuum and it does an incredible job with removing the hair of two large long haired dogs.
I previously owned hoover vacuums and loved them. My last Hoover finally died after 15+ years and probably would have been fine if I hadn’t tried to vacuum up pebbles from the kids shoes. I bought a bissel pet hair eraser thinking it might do better on pet hair. The hand tool stopped working after a month and the suction continued to get weak despite the constant filter cleaning. My carpet looked dingy and the nap would no longer pick up. Although the bissel still works, it will be retired to my office where the demands of a vacuum are not so tough.
After one use of the new hoover on my living room carpet, the nap picked back up, the dingy look (black dog) disappeared and it looked like my carpet was at least 2 shades lighter. The bag did fill up after one day but this is not something I would expect after regular use since the bissel didn’t pick up much.
The rubber on the rollers does a great job of attracting the dog hair and lint. The suction in the hose is very powerful and I like how it locks into place so that it is not hanging in my way when not in use. The bags are easy to attach and release and the cord in a nice long length. This vacuum is a great value for the price!
UPDATE: After using this vacuum for a few months now I still love it! The light weight is easy to use on stairs and the suction is still as powerful as day one. The rubber on the attachments has made my sofas pet hair free. I don’t get as much kick back on bare floors as I have with other vacuums. I’m thinking about purchasing another one to keep on a different floor since I have 3 floors and like to have quick, easy access if company comes over. Great purchase, well worth the money.
NEW UPDATE: I don’t normally keep updating reviews but found another feature about this vacuum that may be helpful. I use the rotating hand tool often and never had problems with it. One day it stopped rotating and I thought it was either a loss or if I had the patience, would take hours and multiple tools to fix. I was pleasantly surprised to find that on the back of the hand tool has two easy sliding clips that allows access into the rollers. After a few seconds of clearing trapped furr in the gears and rollers, I popped the back on, fastened the clips, and went back to vacuuming. No tools needed! Hope this helps others!

I love this vacuum. It works great and it is easy to use. I really like the fact that my old Hoover attachments fit this vacuum as well. I held on to an old dust brush which I love to use on lampshades, etc. and it fits this vacuum as well. Same goes for my extension wands.
I used to have a Dyson Animal which I absolutely HATED! What a pleasure to use this vacuum instead.
Only one criticism – only one short extension wand came with the vacuum. Need to use my old Hoover extension wands to reach the baseboards, etc.

We now have 2 vacs. The older is a 12 year old Kenmore made mostly of metal and this unit made mostly of plastic. Both materials are durable. The Hoover comes with a pet attachment we use to vacuum the stairs (we have no pets) and it works well. The unit as a whole works well. The hose is tough yet flexible – more flexible than the Kenmore. However the Kenmore can open completely horizontal so it may be easily pushed under a raised bed. This unit seems to bump into the hose connection when opened almost to the horizontal. If it went all the way down we’d give it 5 stars. One thing we’ve learned about vacs over the years is the really inexpensive ones (<100 bucks) are usually junk, however a high price doesn’t equate to quality. Read CR for more info.
