What are the laws about what you can throw in the bin in the UK?
Can I just chuck a hoover in the bin? Does it contain something that cant be just chucked out?

No, there’s nothing in there that’s particularly harmful to the environment, unlike a lot of other things like electronics, some rechargeable batteries, household cleaners, or anything with lead in it. A vacuum cleaner is basically an electric motor with a bag or other dust storage device attached. Some places might want it to recycle the copper that is in the cord and motor windings, but there isn’t much and it’s tough to remove.

I think you may find the bin men will not take it as I am sure this will come under WEE regulations , thats waste electronic and electrical equipment. They should take it at your local amenities site(all councils are required to provide one).
