How should I store my wedding dress?

I’ve been married for a couple years now and I looked at my wedding dress and it has 2 small stains from some of the wedding cake that dripped onto my dress
So Im getting it dry cleaned like it says on the label. How should I store it once its clean? I have those vacuum space bags that vacuum the air out, should I use that or just leave it in the garment bag it came with?

  1. The vacuum bag idea is great. The biggest problem in long-term storage is yellowing from oxidation from moisture. That’s why it is best not to store it in a basement. Your dry cleaner can put it in a storage box, but be sure the box he uses is acid-free. It also would not hurt if the box is vacuum sealed and shrink-wrapped, but that would add a lot of expense. Also, your vacuum space bag idea would take up a lot less room than a storage box.

  2. when you take your dress the the cleaners tell them to put it into a storage box they will seal it for you.
