How would you use vacuum bags on a cruise?

If you bring vacuum bags on a cruise how would you suck the air out of them again? I have been on 2 Carnival cruises in the past 2 years and they do not have vacuums in the cabins. So I was wondering how you would suck the air out of them, when you pack up. If I go on another cruise I would think about using them. (;

  1. Just ask your cabin attendant for help when you have the bags packed and are ready for the vacuum. They are pleased to help and a bit of an extra tip would be in order but not necessary. Try to have the bags ready for the vacuum as early on the last day before entering the last port as you can.

  2. I have the kind of "space bag" designed to be flattened without a vacuum, and they work VERY well! All you do is put your clothes inside and then roll the bag with your hands or put the bag on your bed and sit on it. I bought mine at a Walgreen’s, but have also seen them for sale at the "big box" stores.
