Ok, so anyone that has the Handi Vac knows that it’s been discontinued. So my question is has anyone found a way to use the Reynolds Handi Vac with the Ziploc vacuum bags and the suction stay? If so, could you please share with me how you did it? Thanks in advance! =)
It’s a bit hit or miss. Be sure that the bag is zipped real tight and be sure product in bag allows you to press the ‘valve’ patch right down flat on the work surface. Rub the ‘valve’ patch & the area of the bag opposite it between your thumb & forefinger. Moisten the rubber gasket on the Vac pump just a bit. Place the moistened gasket on the ‘valve’ patch, being sure it does not go beyond the edge of the patch as this tiny space will frustrate your efforts. Hold the Vac nozzle end between your thumb & forefinger & press firmly straight down. Hold power on until the air is all out. Try it with some raw beans or raw rice to get the hang of it. The product should get very stiff within the bag as there should be no room for it to move. Success will not be 100% & I’ve yet to try it on a re-used bag. Even the Reynolds bag were only 60% effective, but when it works, it will save you money.
