What is the best and most durable vacuum for a house with pets that…

Features like "bag-less" and "hose" would also be needed/wanted. Lots of hair on carpets, so something that has a strong "sucking" vacuum. Price range of 0 to 0 would be nice, but any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for any help!

  1. I have 3 dogs … I’ve come to the conclusion that pets and carpets are just NOT a good combination.

I’ve tried every major brand except Dyson … NONE of them were great, but some are better than others. Anything made by Bissell or Dirt Devil will be garbage … don’t waste your money. Eureka is better … I always go back to Hoover. They just work better and last longer, I think.

Kirby is probably the best, but they’re VERY expensive … they’re also very HEAVY and difficult to maneuver.

I think you have 2 options … either double your price-range, bite the bullet and get a Dyson (everyone I know who has one, loves it) or buy a cheaper brand like Eureka or Hoover and plan to replace it more often.

The issue isn’t suction, so much … and pretty much everything is available in bagless these days, and a hose with attachments is standard on almost all vacuums … the problem is that pet hair causes clogs. These can occur anywhere … from the brush (easy to fix) to the hose (more involved) to the various filters … so make sure you pick a vacuum that you can easily take apart and put back together.

  2. I love my Dyson to death for picking up cat hair, but in that price range you might have to pick one up used or wait and shop around for a clearance model or something.

  3. Whatever vacuum you get be sure to keep the beater bar free of hair. The vacuum will last far longer.

  4. my kirby is the best vacuum i’ve ever used, but it was more like $1,500.
and it has a bag. but it literally picks up the carpet while vacuuming. i help clean a house for client of mine and use my vacuum. she houses rescue animals of all kinds and no one who walks into her home can smell it or see any hair.
