  1. Do yourself a favor and spend that little bit extra and buy a "bagless" vacuum cleaner such as a dyson or something similar. We procrastinated for a long time before we forked out the money for one and it’s the best thing we could’ve done.

  2. There’s no such thing.

    So many vacuums have so many different loading schemes, shapes, etc, there’s no way to make one bag that is "universal."

    Shop around at the commercial end of the spectrum, look for a commercial equivalent of your vacuum. To save money, lots of commercial users equip their vacuums with cloth bags that can be opened, shaken empty, reclosed and go right back to work. For the old-style Eureka uprights, the equivalent commercial brand was Sanitaire. Electrolux became Prolux. You get the idea.
