is my guinea pig deaf, half deaf, deaf in one ear or could she be…

well one of 4 of my guinea pigs NEVER squeaks, she don’t react the rustlings bags, keys, bangs. i threw a set of keys at our ‘hetty hoover’ today to make a noise, she didn’t react! we has only squeaked once or twice in her life when she was first born well young when i took her mother away, to do her daily health check thing, and she would squeak with her sister loud, but since she has gotten used to it, she hasn’t squeaked. she squeaked today abfter over an hour of doin wierd things, LOL, and it was about 4 tiny ones after my mum made a purring sound like a cat, LOL. but she was stroking her at the same time. she also made a bubbling sound shilst my mum was stroking her.

could she be deaf because she never reacts like her dad, mum and sister when i rustle a bag. is there any other ways to test if she is deaf as i don’t think a vet could really test for deafness. i think she is half deaf in one ear. but could she just be a REALLY quiet ‘non responding’ guinea pig, i mean today i put a keys near her and rattled them and she carried on eating, what is wrong with her, i also done the same thing with my other piggies AND ALL THE OTHERS RESPONDED MY FLINCHING AND SQUEAKING TO THE BAG EXCEPT HER!

please help, thanks

  1. She could be a bit hard of hearing and she could just be a quite guinea pig, i have had one that was so quiet that you almost had to be on top of her to hear her responses. She was just a quiet guinea pig that did not respond to things like most guineas did and had a quiet voice. My guess is that is what you have here as if she did not hear at all she would not be making any sounds at all one would think.
