I have known about Kirby vacuums forever…My grandmother had a Heritage 84, which was passed down to my aunt and is still running smooth. But here’s my question…are they all they are cracked up to be? I don’t mind the changing attachments or buying a more expensive bag, but do they honestly clean better than an average Hoover upright from Wal-Mart?
Vacuuming with a Kirby vs. a Hoover is like comparing a Ford to a BMW.
A Ford will be great for the first 20-30% of its life and then you will find yourself needing to fix this and that. Then the last 60-70% of its life approx 10 years) you find that you no longer want to deal with the crap you are putting up with. Thus You start saving and looking around for something better which is usually another Ford. Why not just spend the extra cash, get the Kirby and you will have a machine that will work well for you for many mnay years. We have had Kirby’s last 30+ years in our family. Both of my Grandma’s had them. My Mom had one and now we just got a new/used one.
They suck.
My mother had a Kirby and she liked it because it had a all metal body and no plastic parts and also could do everything like, shampoo, vacuum, different attachments, etc. I just remember that I could hear that thing four houses away. My dad said that it could suck the thoughts right of your head.
i just finished using my Kirby and i love it! It does clean everything and I love all the attachemnts. It is heavy though. I hope I can lift it when I’m 80!!!
I have a Kirby and a Dyson. I prefer the Dyson. First, Kirby bags are expensive. Second, it’s heavy, making vacuuming stairs a pain. Third, the Dyson picks up way more stuff than the Kirby. Fourth, the Dyson is cheaper.
Kirby is a good (and heavy) machine. Other good machines will perform at a par with it. But dollar for dollar, we installed a central vacuum for less money and better efficiency. I would never go back to that boat anchor.
I have a Kirby that was handed down to me ….. Kirbys do work very good , but they are like $2234.00 I know I worked for this place who had peeps going around doing demos trying to sell them…They are very heavy, and if you have back problems i dont recommend them, on the other hand you can get a vaccumn for a cheaper price that will work just as well as a kirby and nothing abpout it filters bags ro whatever will be as expensive as for a kirby…but yeah they good…i prefer my eureka though
