why is dirt going into the hose of my vacuum instead of the filter?

momof2grls need help to clarify doubt about: : why is dirt going into the hose of my vacuum instead of the filter?
I have a hoover windtunnel that has one of those hepa filters and the dirt goes into that container and then you empty it.Well now it has been going into the hose and not going to the filter and I have taken it apart and cleaned the thing out lots of times.It doesn’t have much sucking power either now.I have only had it for like a year.What could it be?
it is now spitting the dirt back out..ahhh!

Momo, Other that the hepa filter, there has to be another filter in that vacuum somewhere that is full & or blocked up with debris. That is the only reason vacuums lose suction power. Sorry can’t be more help. Good luck
